Our Story

​Josh Alvarez discovered his passion for architecture at the age of 12, spending summers working alongside his father in the construction field. That early hands-on experience gave him a strong foundation in how buildings are actually built—an understanding that continues to shape his approach to design today.

While attending Woodbury University in Burbank, California, Josh earned his General Contractor’s License and worked as a Project Manager for Alvarez Tile. In this role, he collaborated closely with contractors and architects, gaining real-world experience in construction management and coordination.

After completing his professional degree in architecture, Josh worked with both corporate and boutique firms across Los Angeles and Long Beach, where he contributed to the design of single-family homes, multi-family developments, and mixed-use projects. These experiences helped him bridge the common gap between design and construction—an advantage that defines his work today.

With over a decade of experience in the design and construction industry, Josh became a licensed architect in California and founded Alvarez Architects. His design philosophy focuses on creating spaces that are both aesthetically refined and highly functional, tailored to each client’s needs and the unique characteristics of the site.

Josh brings a design-build mindset to every project, combining architectural vision with practical construction knowledge. He remains committed to staying current with evolving building technologies, materials, and industry trends—continuously pushing to deliver thoughtful, efficient, and well-executed design solutions.
